Le Golf d’Étretat a vécu ce week-end un moment fort de convivialité et de sport avec la réception du club anglais d’Hockley. Cette rencontre s’inscrit dans le cadre du jumelage entre les deux clubs, né d’une volonté commune de tisser des liens durables autour d’une même passion : le golf.
Les festivités ont débuté vendredi soir au clubhouse, où un barbecue a rassemblé joueurs et accompagnants. L’occasion de partager un moment d’amitié franco-britannique dans une atmosphère détendue, face au cadre exceptionnel de la Côte d’Albâtre.
Samedi, place au premier tour de la compétition, disputé en match play balles. Les équipes d’Étretat et d’Hockley se sont affrontées avec sérieux et enthousiasme, offrant de belles parties sur un parcours exigeant et venté. Au terme de la journée, impossible de départager les deux camps : la rencontre s’achève sur une égalité parfaite. Nos amis d’Hockley auraient donc du conserver cette année le putter Henderson que nous nous disputons à chaque rencontre. Mais le Fair-Play anglais n’est plus à démontrer et Andy Dunne a offert le putter à Etretat pour les 6 prochains mois.
La soirée s’est conclue par un dîner dans l’élégance et la convivialité. Les joueurs ont savouré un excellent repas proposé par l’équipe du restaurant du club, avant de se prêter à un quizz original consacré aux personnages célèbres, qui a animé la soirée de rires et de complicité. Les discours des capitaines ont ensuite apporté une touche d’émotion : Paul Hopital a transmis le flambeau à Christian Quarré pour l’équipe d’Étretat, tandis qu’Tony Cullen passait le relais à Kerrin Qualters pour Hockley.
Dimanche, la compétition s’est poursuivie dans un esprit résolument convivial avec un scramble Florida réunissant des équipes mixtes franco-britanniques. Une formule qui a permis de renforcer les liens entre les joueurs. La rencontre s’est conclue autour d’un déjeuner convivial, venant clore ce merveilleux week-end d’amitié et de sport.
Rendez-vous est d’ores et déjà pris le premier week-end de mai l’an prochain à Hockley.
This past weekend, Golf d’Étretat enjoyed a wonderful moment of conviviality and sport by hosting the English club of Hockley. This event is part of the twinning between the two clubs, born from a shared desire to forge lasting ties around a common passion: golf.
Festivities began on Friday evening at the clubhouse, where a barbecue brought together players and guests. It was the perfect occasion to share a Franco-British moment of friendship in a relaxed atmosphere, set against the exceptional backdrop of the Alabaster Coast.
On Saturday, the first round of the competition took place, played in match play format. The teams from Étretat and Hockley faced each other with both seriousness and enthusiasm, producing fine matches on a demanding, windswept course. By the end of the day, the teams were perfectly tied. Our friends from Hockley should therefore have retained the Henderson putter, which we compete for at each meeting. But English fair play is second to none, and Andy Dunne generously offered the putter to Étretat for the next six months.
The evening concluded with a dinner that combined elegance and warmth. Players enjoyed an excellent meal prepared by the club’s restaurant team, followed by a fun and original quiz dedicated to famous personalities, which filled the evening with laughter and camaraderie. Speeches by the captains then added a touch of emotion: Paul Hopital passed the torch to Christian Quarré for the Étretat team, while Tony Cullen handed over to Kerrin Qualters for Hockley.
On Sunday, the competition continued in a truly convivial spirit with a Florida scramble that brought together mixed Franco-British teams. This format strengthened bonds between the players. The weekend ended with a friendly lunch, perfectly closing this wonderful celebration of friendship and sport.
The next rendezvous is already set for the first weekend of May next year at Hockley.
